Why Do Humans Go to War?

2022 still at war

2022 and we’re at war again. In reality, wars have never ended; there have always been many around the world. But now we see a war at Europe’s doorstep, in Ukraine, which feels very, very close.

It’s being talked about very strongly, and beyond all the political issues, today I want to make a video to try to understand on a social, psychosocial, and spiritual level why there is war. Why now, in 2022, when we should be evolved people, does this madness still happen?

Why war?

Why war? Why this absurdity? War is truly barbarism, the greatest madness a human can commit, yet a madness that has very specific reasons because war never comes by chance.

Let’s leave aside all the geopolitical issues (as a sociologist, political scientist, and former university researcher, I could tell you a lot about it) but that’s not the point; the point goes far beyond.

What manifests on a geopolitical level, on a global level, and on a social level is something that has deep roots within us, within each of us, and has roots on a social, psychosocial, and spiritual level.

Everything that manifests in our society is in fact the product of a collective consciousness: we not only have our individual consciousness that manifests in our actions, whether good or bad, but we also have a collective consciousness that manifests in the actions that we, as a group and society, as nations and the human population of the world, manifest.

When a war manifests, it means something has happened on a deeper and broader level. So there is a root to all this. And where do we find this root?

We find it in anger and frustration (I mentioned this in a video I made a short time ago about the Will Smith and Chris Rock slap incident).

The fundamental issue is that when we frustrate an emotion within us, this emotion doesn’t disappear but is pushed inside and left there, in a part that is far from our consciousness, in the space we call the Unconscious.

It doesn’t go away, so it remains hidden. And everything in our unconscious part, little by little, whenever there is an opportunity, comes out and tries to surface.

It’s as if by repressing our emotions, we put them all into a pressure cooker, and the more we put in, the more the pressure increases until a situation occurs where there can be an outburst of this anger and frustration.

Child education

If we think about how we are educated from childhood, how children are educated in our society, we can imagine how much repressed anger there is.

First of all, listening to the needs of children: I constantly find myself walking down the street and seeing how children are ignored, hit, mistreated, used as an accessory to adult life.

The child is often dragged into the needs of the adult while their own needs are ignored, creating a series of invasions of the child’s space, their intimate space.

This very often generates a reaction in children who, as a result, throw tantrums, get angry, and perform actions that are disliked by adults.

These actions, instead of being welcomed as a stimulus to say “okay, there’s a need to listen to,” are repressed. So children are even more repressed, hit, and punished, and if the child gets angry, they are told “don’t get angry.”

Thus, anger, which is a healthy emotion that helps us establish boundaries and tells us “look, there’s a boundary that hasn’t been respected,” is repressed to say “your emotional boundaries as a human being cannot be respected, I do what I want with them, and you can’t protest about it.”

Accumulation of anger

This produces over the years a great pressure that, in the adult world, manifests this neurosis in the role models we find in our society: just look at how office managers behave, how colleagues behave, or how law enforcement behaves towards the people they encounter and work with.

The models are based on actions of force and imposition thanks to role privileges that are structured within the social system. This matures within each of us a great frustration.

This frustration and anger are sometimes vented in interpersonal relationships, thus getting angry or using passive aggression towards the people around us (wives, children, relatives, parents, or others).

However, this mechanism is generally not enough, and a great anger accumulates, which is then channeled socially towards scapegoats.

For example, during the two years of the pandemic, this great frustration channeled a lot of anger towards various categories: runners, the government, the terrible evil anti-vaxxers, or the terrible evil pro-vaxxers.

All this widespread anger gradually increases, and the ultimate expression of this anger is manifested in the barbaric violence of war, which leads to total destruction.

Anger that is not managed and not channeled on a collective spiritual and global level creates Egregores of pain that manifest in conflict and war until awareness is achieved.

Learning to manage anger

Awareness arises from our commitment as individuals: we must start working on ourselves, first recognizing our anger, then, once aware of the anger within us, starting not to throw it around but to channel it constructively.

There are some very interesting bioenergetic exercises to do to let the anger out. The more we process it, understand where it comes from, and manage to deactivate the trigger detonators that make it rise, the more we become aware of it and channel the energy of anger in the best way as an assertive energy in our lives that, in a non-violent but peaceful and healthy way, can energize our actions.

All this is extremely important because every time we unconsciously channel our anger towards others, we are fueling conflicts.

These conflicts start from our individual consciousness, enter our family consciousness, expand into social consciousness, and when they reach global consciousness, they manifest in the terrible things we see every day.

So the invitation is to pay close attention; awareness is necessary because a world of peace is built with awareness within us.
